I am looking to get a pony bottle (40cft) and was wondering if there are major buoyancy differences in the AL ones? Does anyone have any positive / negative experience with Sherwood VS Catalinas etc?

Not that much difference in the ponys between diff manufactures in my experience my only advice is get a big enough pony within reason and one that you can take it on every dive its not much use to you if it is back on the boat.

Get luxfer, they ride better, catalinastend to be bottom heavier, got both, preferluxfer

Very hard question since there are so many tanks and different needs. For me, I love my steel 45 for the caves because where I drop it stays put. Con: It is heavy and putting it on and off underwater changes your bouyancy very fast. I also love my Al 50 for open water dives. It is like a small bullet that you hardly even know it is there and little to no bouyancy changes.

Do you dive with that thing, Phil? How well does it trim out?
