I just don't log dives
Going to be taking an intro to cave/cavern class. I currently dive with the zeagle dsv/zx regs now but just bought a bunch of used gear and included was a pair of dive rite rg1205 with unbalanced seconds.

I am looking to keep the gear simple and the same with rebuilds as both kits are readily available and aboput the same price. BTW I will be doing all overhauls by myself. My diving is mainly springs and gulf/atlantic wreck/reef diving off the east coast of Florida. Trying to decide which should I keep. Any opinions?

Doesn't cost anything to keep em all !!!:D

You can never have too many regs. I have two sets of doubles regs and 2 singles setups. Plus 3 stage bottle setups. And taking cave classes would indicate that at some time you'll need stage regs as well. Better keep em.

Right, but I was trying to think of simplicity by having all matching brand regs, for my doubles, single and later on stages. This way I can only stock up on the same parts kits and only one spanner wrench and such.

If you service your own regulators, same-brand is less of an issue.

Both Dive Rite and Zeagle rebuild kits are readily available, and hopefully both companies will be around for a long time (so no real need to stock up on parts), both are reasonably priced (the kits).

90% of the tools, gauges and supplies needed to rebuild either brand (or most any regulator for that matter) are the same.

Having to own two different-sized pin spanners is cheaper than buying a whole new regulator

But if you decide you do want to have same-brand / same-model regulators, then my best advice would be to test dive BOTH the Zeagle and the Dive Rite, and keep the one you like best.

Best wishes.
