During my recent liveaboard cruise to Komodo and environs, I saw one single example of an unusual nudibranch that I initially thought was a Cherlidonura varians. However, on checking the web for that species, I discovered that although the colour scheme is similar, chelidonura varians has a bare top like a flatworm and does not feature the prominent gills seen in my specimen.
Therefore, I would like someone to identify this species for me please and also tell me if I am likely to see it in Raja Ampat.
PS: Forgive the poor picture quality. The current was strong and my buddy was just below me with her expired air bubbles making photography difficult.
