I'm a Fish!
Sorry if this already came up before, but other than the color of buttons, is there an easy/quick way to determine which "generation" of Air 2 one has?

I heard that ALL 1st gen. had RED buttons, and the 2nd gen. had gray buttons, and seems more "bulky" compared to 3rd generation (which has either red or gray buttons?)

And on a different matter:
How to determine which Atomic B2's have the jetseat, vs. normal seat? Again I heard that only very early B2's had normal and then subsequent units all had jetseats--and perhaps a different rubber cap on the 1st stage?

Appreciate ANY clarifications or advice on how to differentiate etc..

The jet piston upgrade kit for my B1 came with a replacement cap. The original cap was doughnut shaped with most of the top of the reg exposed. The replacement cap covers most of the top of the reg, with just two crescent moon shaped holes. Since most parts are interchangeable between B1 and B2 regulators, it's a pretty good bet that a B2 that has been upgraded will have that same cap.

I'm pretty sure that what changes is the shape of the piston, not the seat material. The jet piston has a more rounded edge. With the old style piston, my B1 would develop IP creep after 75-100 dives and 100 hours of diving, but I've never had a problem after upgrading. IIRC, the cost to upgrade added about $50 to the cost of the bi-annual reg service.
