which BP/W to start with?

The RecWing will fit the DR backplate too. It's good with a big-ish single and a twin 10 or twin 12 long (assuming steel). With larger twins you'll need to try it. I think it has enough lift for twin 100-'s but I'm not entirely convinced that it's wide enough.
Has enough for my twin Genesis HP120's (13L long i think) which are quite negative to begin with. Its only a couple of pounds less lift than the classic (about the weight of 2/3 stages) it is recommended for use with anything up to 120's. Do people not like the rec wing? Are you thinking of the trek wing 45#?

I wouldn't say I don't like it. I own one. I've just never tried it with 15 litre twins so I don't want to say it will work if I'm not 100% sure. That's all.
