We're going to be down from March 29 - April 9, diving with Blue Magic in the afternoon. I'll never set my alarm while on vacation. They provide transportation from their shop on 4th between Melgar and 5th to the marina. We leave the shop at about 1:00, and leave the marina at about 1:30. That's after most of the morning divers have returned, and we have the reefs pretty much to ourselves. We'll do 5 days (possibly more), of diving. Want to join us - (me and the missus)? I'm nice. She's mean.

Concur with meduimone! Afternoon 2 tanks dives with Blue Magic are a great thing. Reefs are quiet, their valet dive service is outstanding, their prices are some of the best on the island and their DM's are quality. #Puumba, #Eddie, #Yuval and the entire BM crew.

I'm a Blue XTSea devotee, highly recommend them, but in addition to all the above mentioned ops, I think Deep Blue also picks up at the downtown pier, so that is another option. Dove with them a couple times, quality dive op.

We stay at Casa Mexican and dive with Aldora most of the time. Aldora's standard tank is a steel HP120. (Nitrox is your friend) It costs a little more, but we get 90 minute dives regularly, usually at least 80 minutes. We have dove with Dive With Martin and Blue Magic and can personally recommend both. We are looking into Blue XTSea to save some $$ for a quick April trip as well.

It's not hard to find a great dive op in Cozumel, it's hard to find the best dive op for you. All will have something they do a little different. Tank size, departure point, departure time, # of divers on a boat, snacks provided at SI, cost, "valet" service, surface interval location, # of boats available, dive your computer or everyone surfaces at xx time, and lots of other factors.

Email several, ask lots of questions, and pick your op.

Good luck, safe travels,
Jay

Deep Blue does leave from downtown, and they leave a little later, around 9am. You have plenty of time for breakfast, setting up your camera/s, etc. Also, if you get to the boat and forgot something, you're only about a block from your room.

That's so big for us. We never touch a piece of gear from the time it gets packed on the way in, until we gear up the next day and everything is clean and dry.

Neither do I, but I am always up at first light or maybe before when I am on the island. I love lying in a hammock and watching the place wake up. By dive boat time I have been up for hours.

Of course, along about 9PM every night I am looking to get horizontal. :D

It's the way you and I are wired.

In my case, it's a genetic thing ---- I remember my poor mother, (who was very smart, lively, and energetic). struggling to make my Dad's lunch (construction worker), in the mornings. It was all she could do to put one foot in front of the other, (both teetotalers btw). I'm not quite that disabled, but mornings are to be enjoyed sitting leisurely in a stupor.

It's weird, though. In my non-Cozumel life routine I sleep as late as I can and still get to work on time (I love my 7 minute commute!) and I am rarely abed before 11 or 12 PM, but my first morning on Cozumel I am up like a shot at the first gray light, and sometimes before.

I'm liking the idea of Aldora.
I've sent out a few emails including them for details...
If you go with Aldora... Even though you are staying in town you can swing by Villa Aldora for an afternoon and hang out under the Palapa with your fellow divers. You can then walk (20-25 minutes) or taxi back to town. There is a freshwater shower outside and restroom right next to the Palapa. Snorkeling is great out in front as well.
