Where to stay in Catalina?

My birthday is Father's Day weekend and I was thinking about going over to the island for a couple nights. It seems like most hotels there require a 2 or 3 night minimum and are kinda pricey.

I've never stayed overnight on the island. Where are some decent and reasonably priced places to stay?

You won't find much in the way of reasonable prices on an island, but it's still a nice place for a weekend getaway.

Camping at Two Harbors is about the cheapest way to stay on the island. They have some tent cabins that are set up and ready to be slept in.

If you are diving then hands down Seaport Village is the place to stay. It is not the nicest place, but very diver friendly. There is a rinse area for gear and they will take you to the dive park and pick you up when you are done. The walk with gear from any of the hotels is brutal. The drop off/pick up service is worth every penny it cost to stay there.

I was going to ask what your budget would be for a room. There are a few here on SB that like the Portifino.
Budget would be the Hermosa hotel or the cottages.
I have stayed at the sea port village inn and the basic room are, well pretty basic. I upgraded to their maiden and catalina rooms which are much nicer, even had a view of the harbor and hillside. The manager is quite friendly and the pick up and drop to the ferry dock and casino point in a real plus. The breakfast isn't the greatest, but it is ok.
Remember that weekend rates are much more than Sun-Thur rates.

100-200/nt would seem reasonable. Thanks for the info re sea view. I did look at the photos on their site. Did seem a little too basic.

I'll check out Portofino.

I also fully endorse Seaport Village. They are very diver friendly, so much so, that they'll drop you off and pick you up for night dives.
