I know I can count on you all!

OK, here's the deal:
My Wife and I would like to plan a trip with another couple. Anyway, the ladies do not dive and the guys do, so we are trying to find a nice place that we can dive and yet will have something to do (shop, nice beach, snorkel) for the ladies. Here's another catch... indexpensive would be nice and a fun night life is a must.

Time of travel: 4-5 days sometime in January 2003

(I know 'inexpensive' is vague, but base it on your experiences.)

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Murdock325,

If you're comfortable with modest accomodations and eat at the right places, you can have what you are looking for in New Providence & Grand Bahama.

Best regards.

DocVikingo

try looking in into Cozumel. I dive and my wife doesn't, Cozumel served us both well and It wasn't very expensive.

:hmmm:
Can't say Belize fits the shopping requirement, and night life can be hit or miss.

I think I'd agree with DocVikingo and say Nassau (New Providence island) in the Bahamas. Cable Beach area is quite nice; there is shopping in Nassau; every dive shop I know of will pick you and your dive buddy up; I heard plenty about the night life from the others on the dive shop's bus; and the Bahamas is usually on the cheaper side of dive travel (particularly airfare).

Bonaire seems to be really popular among divers on this board, I am seriously thinking about that being my next vacation unless I can find somewhere else to pursuade me away from Bonaire:rolleyes:

Bonaire is a fantastic place.
Since most non divers don't even know where it is, it is very untouched.
There is still plenty for your non diving wife's to do, however. They can snorkel, or lay by the pool. They can rent mope heads and play around the island on those. They can go to the National Park and watch the thousands of Flamingos too. There's shopping and sunsets at the downtown pier everynight. There is also a casino or two now, on the island.
It's the best and easiest diving in the Caribbean IMHO.
There are over 80 dive sites and most can be reached by the shore.
I might as well give my group trip a plug here while I'm at it.
We are going to Bonaire on September 14th to the 21st. The place is www.plazaresortbonaire.com
And the dive operator is www.toucandiving.com

:gorgeous:

Murdock:

Cheap dive vaction to me is one week (7 nights ) all inclusive with diving for under $1,000. (does not include airfare).

Cozumel, Mexico (Costa Club with Dive Paradise)
Roatan, Honduras (Co Co View Resort)
Grand Bahama (Viva Fortuna)
Cayman Islands (Sunset House)
Jamaica (purchase and all-inclusive package on skyauction, Expedia, or Go Classy)

I have yet to make the trip to Grand Bahama. (I'll let you know in a month) Depending on you wifes view of shopping Honduras may not be a good choice.

Out of the four my favorite would be Cozumel or Jamaica. A lot of culture, nightlife, diving, snorkeling, shopping, and a place that can fit anyones personality / budget.

Please let us know if you find a good place you recommend. We are always looking for a deal!
