I was going to say that mine was on the 3/8" port but then I realized it might not be. I realized that my primary hose was a little shorter than my octo hose, and would work out better for my bungied backup. I through my secondary reg on the old primary hose, put the primary reg on the long hose and into the port that the octo was in before.

So yea, my alternate might be into the 1/2" port...

[and yea... when I saw the cash register ring up, I regretted not going to fifthd for the hose... but I wanted it _now_]

dvleemin once bubbled...
Gp,
I hadn't thought of that, but that makes much more sense. I definately don't want to plug it now.

Plus what about if you get a dry suit?

You'll need the following connections:
second stage
backup
low pressure inflator
drysuit inflator

You won't be able to block off one of the LP ports then. Does this make sense?

Darryl
Absolutely, the drysuit is another reason not to plug the 1/2" port unless you were carrying an argon bottle you need all your LP ports.

Be careful getting the 5'. I found it to be way too short. The 6' is very nice, and the 7 would be no problem (not overly long as you might think).

I would use the 1/2" port to run your bungied backup reg to (using the shorter supplied hose that you ALREADY have), just the way it is.... no adaptor/reducer. And run a 6' to the 3/8" standard port. BUT be sure to have an extra 1/2" short hose in case you need it. This is what I did.

You will save some $$ by keeping your backup on the 1/2" port, just using the 1/2" hose that was supplied with your reg.. Then just purchase one long hose.

But seriously try to see if you can look at the difference between a 5' or 6' before you buy. I ended up having to buy more hoses than I needed to.

In fact I might be unloading my 5' if interested.

Yeah...I agree on the 6 or 7 footer over the 5 footer. I have a 7' hose and I have shears and a small Wenoka Squeeze Lock knife mounted on my belt on the right side and the hose tucks under the two sheaths and holds the hose in place perfect. I've never had a problem with the long hose getting away or causing any problems whatsoever it works so much better for me than standard hose configs.:)

If your not confused enough already let me offer you one more option. The only reason to not use the 1/2 port is the difficulty in finding a replacement if it fails. If you use an adapter you theoretically add an additional failure point. What I do on mine is use the 1/2 inch hose and carry an adapter in my save a dive kit. If you have a hose failure and can't get a 1/2 hose right away, use the adapter until you can get a new one.
Best of both worlds.

Josh
