Hi,
I'm looking for a 5' hose for an Apex ATX50. I've called my LDS, but they want $75, plus they don't have it in stock. So where is the cheapest place to get it?

Thanks,

Darryl

Are you using the first stage that has a 1/2" port? If yes, most folks plug that off and use a standard hose in a different port. If your first stage is a DS4, all the ports are standard and hose is not a problem.

If you insist on using the big port I THINK fifthD carries hoses to fit. I would get a 7' rather than 5 though.

Hi,
I'll have to take a look at what port I'm using. I don't have a DS4, but instead the standard ATX50 swivel first stage. I may be using the large port. Is there any benefit to using the large port?

plug it and get a standard hose... then if you lose a hose on vacation, you can get a replacement easier.

Extreme Exposure has the hoses also.

So if I understand correctly, my reg is most likely attached to a 1/2" port (I'll have to check when I get home). So I'll need to get a 3/8" hose then?

Is there any difference in hose size on the second stage side of the hose, or are they all standard?

Thanks,

Darryl

I have the same first stage as you and I just bought a $5.00 1/2" to 3/8" adaptor and ran my "bungeed backup reg" to that port and ran the "long hose primary reg" on the second port which is 3/8". This way I could still use all 3/8" hoses but not have to plug the 1/2" port which I didn't want to do. The reason why I didn't want to plug the 1/2" port is because you only have two LP ports on each side of the first stage. If you plug the 1/2" port now you only have one LP port left on your right side. If you are planning on running a long hose primary config then you want both hoses running from your right side. You either bend the hose sharply and run from one of the left side ports back over to the right side which would be stupid or you turn the first stage upside down so the side with two 3/8 LP ports is on the right side. I don't like that option either because then your HP ports are on top which doesn't make any sense to me. The adaptor is fine and it's not unsafe, it just adds an extra o-ring and unless you look closely you can't even tell it's there, it's real small.

Gp,
I hadn't thought of that, but that makes much more sense. I definately don't want to plug it now.

Plus what about if you get a dry suit?

You'll need the following connections:
second stage
backup
low pressure inflator
drysuit inflator

You won't be able to block off one of the LP ports then. Does this make sense?
