You're flying out of the UK, so the majority of SB readers view the world from a "North America Centric" angle.
We see the Caribbean as our back yard, just as you view the Red Sea as a commonly traveled zone. Out of Heathrow, the planes run like city busses to Egypt. You have relatively easy access to some great diving.
(Take temperature out of the equation....)To us, diving in a place like the Galapogos is an attainable goal. For you it is like a trip to the dark side of the Moon.
It is a long trip, but you can easily see the well traveled trail left by Brits to Pacific Rim countries. You can't swing a dead cat in the Philippines without hitting a limey.
One of our North American "Holy Grails" is
the Maldives. If you run the Germans out of the place, the Brits practically own the joint.
Look at the easy-to-get-to stuff (for you), first. Maldives, Seychelles, the Philippines.
I'm thinking it will be a tad cold in the Red Sea
The Red Sea is universally regarded as having very little temperature swing comparatively. From warmest to coldest,
assuming you are talking about water temps, there is only a 9° swing throughout the year. See
Weather & Temperature | red-sea-guide.com for a good comarison graphic. The
air temp does swing greatly, and as your original post is unclear, maybe you were talking about air temps?
