Where to buy NiMH AA batteries(2300ma +) and charger?

What camera did you end up going with Mike?

I ended up getting the SeaLife DC310 "Pro" set (with strobe, macro lens, case, etc).

I lucked up and got it at my LDS for really cheap. Someone had bought it and apparantly when the "wife" found out, they had to return it. They had "tried it out" in their pool so he couldn't sell it as new and let me have it for cost. Can't beat that. You can't even tell it's been out of the box.

I thought about getting the Olympus like you and I had talked about, but by the time I got the camera, housing, strobe, etc it was going to be some major moo-la (i.e. $$$). I already had the 35mm film version of the DC310 and it was fine for my purposes, which was to snap some photos of my dive (instead of being a die-hard dive photo enthusiast). So this is pretty much exactly what I need for my purposes and going digital.


As for the batteries. I think I'm going to go with the item that Jonnythan suggested, but slightly different. I'm going to get the same thing, but get the 24 pack which includes the 4-battery plastic cases and get two (or three) of the chargers as my father needs one for his camera also. (also a good source of extra batteries if you need to "borrow" some for a big trip.)

About the same price as buying two of the link that Jonnythan provided, but includes the carry cases, which is a nice thing to have instead of batteries "rolling around" inside a camera bag.

Sounds like a good deal. I believe the macrolenses will help alot with most pictures, its an option I would have liked when I was using my buddies 310 so much. I wasn't going to buy it though, wasn't my camera I am going to try to rig the SeaLife strobe up to my Oly housing though

You may want to look into the SL WAL after a while, they look promising.

Going with some of the other camera brands, plus housings, and goodies does end up adding up to alotta $$. Cam and case will have to keep me happy for quite some time, not sure when a strobe will end up in my future - or more lenses.

Amazon is also a good place to check out, on sale they sometimes have the AAs for under a buck a pop.
Last week there were 24 of the 2k (1000 recharges) for $20.

Try Thomas Distributing and go with the Powerex batteries and Maha chargers. Some of the rechargeables do not live up to their markings.
