I didn't see it on the page you linked, and can't find the info through google.

Can you give a link to a manufacturer's site that states this?

No prob. I'll do some searching on the sites I've visited in the past and get back to you.

This is the first site, it's the FAQ page from Energizer. Scroll down a bit and they touch on this subject. There are other sites that go into more detail on this though. I'll keep looking.

to quote the text from the site.....

AA 1700 mAh can be recharged up to 1000 times. The new AA 2500 mAh has greater power capacity but can be recharged approx up to 500 times in the overnight mode. Capacity improvement will always decrease the number of cycles. Every cell available on the market above 2100 mAh will have below 1000 charge cycles.

What camera did you end up going with Mike?

Hey matt.

I ended up getting the SeaLife DC310 "Pro" set (with strobe, macro lens, case, etc).

I lucked up and got it at my LDS for really cheap. Someone had bought it and apparantly when the "wife" found out, they had to return it. They had "tried it out" in their pool so he couldn't sell it as new and let me have it for cost. Can't beat that. You can't even tell it's been out of the box.

I thought about getting the Olympus like you and I had talked about, but by the time I got the camera, housing, strobe, etc it was going to be some major moo-la (i.e. $$$). I already had the 35mm film version of the DC310 and it was fine for my purposes, which was to snap some photos of my dive (instead of being a die-hard dive photo enthusiast). So this is pretty much exactly what I need for my purposes and going digital.

As for the batteries. I think I'm going to go with the item that Jonnythan suggested, but slightly different. I'm going to get the same thing, but get the 24 pack which includes the 4-battery plastic cases and get two (or three) of the chargers as my father needs one for his camera also. (also a good source of extra batteries if you need to "borrow" some for a big trip.)

About the same price as buying two of the link that Jonnythan provided, but includes the carry cases, which is a nice thing to have instead of batteries "rolling around" inside a camera bag.

24pack AA 2300ma with 6 battery cases - $29.99

P1000 Ultra Fast Smart Charger - $11.99 (x qty or 2 or 3)

How's all that sound?

dang. this camera stuff is expensive. Now I've got to buy SD memory cards also!

Sounds like a good deal. I believe the macrolenses will help alot with most pictures, its an option I would have liked when I was using my buddies 310 so much. I wasn't going to buy it though, wasn't my camera :) I am going to try to rig the SeaLife strobe up to my Oly housing though :D

You may want to look into the SL WAL after a while, they look promising.

Going with some of the other camera brands, plus housings, and goodies does end up adding up to alotta $$. Cam and case will have to keep me happy for quite some time, not sure when a strobe will end up in my future - or more lenses.

Try Thomas Distributing and go with the Powerex batteries and Maha chargers. Some of the rechargeables do not live up to their markings.

Here's a site that is full of info

Has adapters for international use :-)

Just got a new camera and need to buy some good quality rechargable batteries as those things just "eat" the alkalines!

Where's the best place to buy some?

Heh... Tom.... You answered the same thread twice!!! (with the same answer).

Just sorta funny. You didn't realize I guess you answered it at an earlier date about a month ago.... (scroll up).
