Have always stayed at an AI. Will be in a condo for 2 wks in May so will be doing some cooking. So where can I buy some fresh seafood especially lobster. Last trip looked at the Mega market. Most was still frozen sitting on a bed of ice.

Whether you can get fresh lobster (legally, anyway) depends at least partly on when you go. There is a lobster season.

Did you try Chedraui?

There is a fisher mans coop just behind the cemetery an 5th and about 9th. I haven't bought from them but understand it is good. There are a few others in that area. Not all that well marked and usually a side entrance to someones home.

Haven't bought from the fisherman's coop, but I have eaten back there, and the fish was as good as I've ever eaten!

You might also try Pescaderia San Carlos -- approximately out on Av 50/55, north of Calle 3 on the east side of the street. It's a seafood market in front with an outdoor restaurant in back. Once you are within sight of it, you can't miss it. Don't know if they carry lobster, but the fish with fins have always been fresh when I've eaten there.

another option is to purchase the fish directly from the sports fisherman boats when they come back. It will be fresh.

I also believe that La Perlita has a market attached to the restaurant. Not sure about seafood, but they should have fresh fish. I don't honestly think we have a lot of local seafood here. It's my understanding that it is mostly brought in from elsewhere.
