I agree completely with all that you just said. I'm just saying that it's possible that GI3 and co. simply made these videos and put them out there in the public domain. Or at least said at one point, hey, we don't care who sees these, who distributes, just as long as you don't make money from the distribution.

It happens all the time in the software world.

Which brings me back to my original point. IF it is the case that it would be legal to digitize and distribute these videos, which I do believe was my very first question in this thread, then I'd be willing to do it.

Of course, if it's not legal, then obviously I wouldn't do it. I wouldnt' have asked if it was legal in the first place if I had intentions of thumbing my nose at the law or saying to hell with GI3.

And I guess it's pretty apparent that nobody knows what the legality of this would be. Better to err on the side of caution. :eek:ut:

SeaJay, you've got to much time on your hands, lol.:D

Nah. The problem is that I type fast, so if I take more than two minutes to reply, I have to seperate it into chapters. :D

Doof, I don't think that "nobody knows the legality of this." We all know that it's illegal to distribute materials without the expressed, written permission of the owner. That's it, in black and white.

...So perhaps you should write GI3 and ask permission.

I personally would distribute the material, while giving credit where credit is due (i.e.: never claiming it as my own.) 99% of the time, people are fine with that until there's money involved. However, if the owner of the material is not cool with you distributing, then apologize and cease immediately.

That's the standard protocol in the copyright biz.

So who here exactly should be talking to INTERPOL?

It is possible to make a video without copywrighting it. With the way everybody's been talking so freely about downloading them, I wondered if maybe these videos hadn't been. Hence my question.
Okay after coming back and reading my own post again, I just realized how dumb that sounded. LOL So yeah, I think that maybe writing GI3 as SeaJay said would be a good idea. I think that hosting the vids for download has become a problem for most people. So much a problem that they are removing them for download shortly after they put them up.
Well if anyone else has written GI3 about it then please let us now what his stance is on this subject. OTOH, if no one has asked him yet, I will glady do it and let you know what happens.

Why,
Only one web site that I saw was CHARGING $2 per copy to divers - now THAT would be illegal, but I wouldn't imagine GUE would care if you hosted them for FREE for all to see, right?

After all, its good advertisement for GUE DIR I would think...

...ummmm... the video being referred to isn't a GUE product...

The next video is in process. George promised to be clothed this time =) There are a lot of people contributing to help make it a professional class video. He will let us know when it is nearer to completion.
