HI.
I was wondering were you all find all your great music to go with underwater vids. Do you find them on web sites, buy CD's or what.
If you get them from web sites feel free to post them if you don't mind.
Thanks

Gotta be careful what you use if you're going to release it outside your immediate family... copyright & all that.

If you are a Mac user, try Soundtrack. It is an easy way to put some interesting but unobtrusive audio behind your video without copyright issues. The application is included in Final Cut Studio and comes free with Final Cut Express HD.

There is public domain music that is not ASCAP or BMI "protected" so basically, it's public domain music.

Here's one place to check http://www.pdinfo.com/list.htm

If you're making it for fun... you can use whatever you want... If you're selling it, and it is copyrighted music... the writer is owed royalty and you would need permission from them to re-publish/re-use it.

I spent 15 years in the music biz... Publishing credit is a serious thing.

Personally I use music from my own CD collection, however I don't distribute any of my movies, occasionally people I've dived with ask for a copy (rare, but occasionally happens) however I'm not so worried about copyright there, it's more if I started to sell the videos.

Thanks for your input. The music is for my persanal use and have no intensions of sell any vids. I just was wondering where you find your dive music.

I like using Pink Floyd for dive videos.

I just look for stuff while listening to streaming audio....usually the ambient/techno streams have some good stuff.....just grab the name from the player that you use(winamp or the such) and do a search on amazon....

Try Wyndom Hill labeled CD's. Mostly new age instrumental/"ambiant" stuff. Its not just mellow tunes (like George Winston) - there's some jazzy electronic music that can work well for that shark footage, etc :)
