How lucky are we to have this dive site in easy range!
You know I think I recognize that shark gutter at Broughton Island:D

Nice pics ... have you dived Looking Glass or The Oakland yet??
What part of Canada are you from?? ... my wife is a Canuck also.

I've been in Port Stephens for just over a year, and while I've only got 50 dives most of these are Fly Point, Halifax, Pipeline shore dives, then Cabbage Tree Island, Boondelbah Island, and various sites at Broughton. I recently completed my AOW, so I visited the Oakland for the first time a week ago. The vis was great on the wreck then, so I wanted to return this past weekend with my camera, but there was a big swell and enough surge that the water was fairly dirty there.

Looking Glass is one part of Broughton that I haven't been to, the swell is always too big and from the south when I'm out there. I finally started looking at the swell reports though and with a N/NE tomorrow I'm hoping the boat will have a free spot for me...

Originally I'm from Ottawa, but I've moved around a lot, spent out west in the Okanagan valley and Vancouver.

In a high school pool. 11 feet max. It was the confined water portion of my rescue cert class.

Same location different dive site as yesterday. Dive time 1 hr 10min... I hate low fills. Tem 16.8 to 20 Av depth 10.5
C8X have you checked out the Aussie diving thread, or condisered the Invade the Rock with us?

we went to see these guys

Great photos. Do you know Dave Harasti? I guess he's a bit of a local hero, and I've used his website many times without really knowing who he was (Whats New @ The Underwater Photo Gallery). He's a specialist when it comes to seahorses, nice interview here: Catalyst: Extras - Seahorses : Dave Harasti extended interview - ABC TV Science

Point me to the Aussie diving thread? Unfortunately my time here ends on Jan 23 when I'm shipping out to the Czech Republic - not so much diving happening there unless you like mudholes. Incidentally I've just booked with Fish Rock Dive Center and am heading up there on the 4th and 5th of January, and from there I'm heading on north to Coffs and the Solitary Islands for two more days. I'll be back home for a couple of days after before flying to Townsville for some quality time out at Wheeler reef, and I hope the weather cooperates for a few dives at the Yongala.

Yesterday a buddy and I dove Canyon Lake, Texas. The weather was chilly at 46(F) and a small breeze. Surface temp was 50(F). The lake has turned over so visibility was almost zero. My buddy was familiar with the dive site though, so we made a short dive tour with a 22 minute bottom time. Max depth at 46' and temp was 48(F).

Next trip may be to Amistad in Del Rio, Texas.

Sounds like you will have some great dives coming up..:blinking: I love the Solitaries!

Just go to the forum section for Australia and each week we start a new thread for the week for people all over Australia (or wishing they were in OZ) diving to post their pics, experiences and comments about their dives. Great fun and we have got to meet people traveling through OZ like you or living in different areas. We've managed to connect with some when they travel into our areas to show them the local sites. Love to see you join in there!:)

I did a coupla local dives on Christmas Day ... the natives were appropriately decked out in holiday colors ...
