Did 2 dives east of Santiago Island (Monkey Island) looking for new dive sites on Saturday. The first one (65') was a bust (sandy bottom little marine life except for star fish and Conch) and when we surfaced our boat had moved with the waves 300-400m away. Damn sandy bottom. Swam and caught it before the sharks got curious.

2nd dive (35') was at another site and we finally found a good spot. Great coral, marine activity and the biggest Hog Fish I have ever seen down here. A good hour of bottom time and well worth the wasted first dive. Good place to go back to.....

I'm a fellow solo diver, but many times I like diving/sharing with a friend. However, I never never never leave my boat unintended! (It gives me nightmares even thinking about it.) Even when I leave people on-board, if I went down and found a sandy bottom, I'd keep checking my anchor and/or come up.

Glad all worked out. Great to hear you had a great second dive.

Newport, Oregon - South Jetty 4th & 5th Fingers, 3rd Finger - Friday

On the second dive I dropped to the floor quickly and was orienting myself - only to look over and a 3 foot lingcod was eying me. By the time I gently swung my speargun to him he swam off into a hole. I'm still kicking myself since he was obviously watching me the whole time and I had plenty of time to get dinner. But I did get a dungeness crab earlier at the 4th finger and took it yesterday to my 90yr Father - he loves crabs and had been playfully reminding me that I had not brought him one for some time.

1st great diving out of Miss.--charter to 20 mls. S. of Gulf Shores, AL (out of Gautier, MS). Tensaw Bridge Span & McMillan Barge. Great viz (for me)- almost 20'. Deep dives and some great shells--big Atlantic. Deer Cowrie, Sundial, Junoia (Juneau's Volute) and Giant Eastern Murex. All to go to my collection. Slightly better than 8', 1' viz and mud in Biloxi Bay.

Scuba Diving in Blue Springs Cavern - YouTube

Great 1st dive at Blue Springs. No clue why we went down feet first this dive though....Even if the current was pretty strong.

Here's what I posted on YouTube. I did not write it in an angry or "know-it-all" way - I was just concerned, actually a bit scared for some of the divers I saw, maybe even a bit worried for you. Please get "overhead" and specifically cavern/cave scuba diving training!!! Anyways, here is what I wrote:

I'm sorry, but I entered a "dislike" because of the discomfort I felt with seeing inexperienced divers entering into a cavern without the proper equipment. Maybe this is really just a hole, - down & up, but I did see what appeared to be a number of obstacles. Also, letting inexperienced diver into any overhead can make them complacent & not recognize the dangers when they are in a different location. Have there ever been any scuba diving incidences in this place? Thank you for your response.

First boat dive of the season in Tobermory Ont, water temp 38 on the wreck of the Forest City. Pretty good viz, 80 ft, didn't really need a light at 138 ft.

Arabia a bit warmer at 40F

Let the Toby boat season commence!

Dove Loch low-minn four times this w/e.

Sent from my DROID X2

Dove Pyramid/Pinnacle and High Peak off the Kona Coast this morning. Yesterday was Aquarium and Rabbi's, also in Kona. Water temps in the 77 - 79 range, and visibility greater than 60'.

Two reefs off off Key West. It took a couple of years but I saw my first shark on the second dive. Way psyched!!! I'd go again tommorrow, but we gotta get married or something.

To follow in John Kean's steps "Got wife, saw shark".
