I have free tickets to Miami. I want to go someplace with great diving and VERY low prices that I can afford the airfare to...from Miami. Honduras sounds good...but if you could get to Miami for free...where would you go? I have Cozumeled a lot...want to try something else in the Caribbean. I would like a place where there are also great shore dives and my non-diving hubby can find something to do. (I think that cuts out Utilla) Spanish speaking is a plus. It's the airfares that all seem out of this world. My dates are highly flexible...I was thinking late January or sometime in February or March. Recommendations gratefully accepted

I am going to COCO view in Honduras next sunday. They are supposed to have a great shore diving set up. If you want I can let you know my experiances when I get back.

Try Grand Cayman or Cayman Brac. The flight from Miami to GC or CB is very inexpensive on Cayman Air. Just make sure they don't lose your luggage on the way back.

You have a great, cheap live aboard right there in Miami. Black Beard Cruises is $100 off next month ( $619 + $55 port tax + crew tip ). Taxi to/from MIA to the docks is $20 inc. tip.

They sail to Bimini ( Bahamas ) for some very fun diving.

WOW ... I have been watching their site, and the list is $819 plus tax etc. Where did you find the $619 price?

If you just want to dive then why not just dive in S. Florida? The diving there is wonderful and you can spend your $'s on dive charters instead of airlines...

Sorry, I meant $719. (I'm thinking prices from a few years ago.)

They frequently advertise specials during the winter months for $100 off. Sign up for their email list or look in Rodales for specials.

Stay right here in South Florida and you'll find some of the best wreck and reef diving in the US, no need to even go to the Keys. Miami and Ft. Lauderdale have more great dive sites then you'll be able to dive in a month and you'll save the air fare to spend on more diving.

Check out this link of South Florida dive sites.

Well the problem is if you add up hotels, dive expenses, meals and transportation you suddenly are more expensive then a live aboard.
