eBay... no question. but know what you're buying. if the seller is a reasonable distance away, ask if he will work with you on shipping charges. most sellers use UPS ground and this runs about $25.00~$35.00 - OUCH!!! there goes the saving (even with an average price of $120 X 6.75% Sales Tax = $9.00)

go to www.USPS.com and choose the oversize 34" plus and the weight of the tank (35# i think for AL80) and get the shipping prices. from southern florida to here in tampa is a lousy $10.00 which is comparible of what you'd pay for tax.

make sure of the HYDRO and VISUAL - it's no use to save $40 on a tank and then need to spent $37 to get if inspected!

on another note..... (i've heard) there are some places that will actually do FREE TANKS if you buy refills (or vice versa) as a loss leader. haven't found that here (yet!!!)

I checked out the sites provided by Yooper - and the prices are fantastic compared to my LDS. I do need some advice on what tanks to buy. I plan to do recreational diving. I'm a big guy (54 inch waist, 350 lbs) and require 18 lbs on my belt and integrated pockets in fresh water with a 3MM shorty.

As I am larger than the average bear I was thinking an AL100, but a more negative tank (steel) would give me the opportunity to loose some weight from the belt. (I am currently undertaking an opportunity (Adkins)to loose some weght from UNDER the belt as well - but that is a longer process...)

Let me know what you think - I don't know that I will ever dive doubles - but I have a Transpa II with Rec wing thatt will allow taht in the future...

I am a fairly big guy too, but not by your standards. I am also still a bit of a newbie which translates to an "Air Sucking Dog" I went with Steel 120's to give me more bottom time. They work great for me and got some weight off my belt too.

Martinjc...
I would suggest going with the steel to get weight off the belt....
That will be better for your back too....
And I would suggest going with two single PST LP104s instead of the 120s....
That way if you ever do go to doubling them up you will already have the tanks...
And you won't have too big a rig...

Yooper, the link doesn't work. They had the best tank prices since the birth of Jesus. Are they still in business?
