CPT D,

You're welcome. The link is to a machine in my basement. I am pleased to know I now have a hit or two from Guantanamo Bay; sort of like Ham Radio folks collecting transmissions from around the world.

Hi String,

Would you please do me the favor of following http://flaterco.com/pol.html and posting your thoughts regarding the content? There are some shorline vector data available for XTide as well. I will download the file asap and get it running.

Thanks,
Joe

Im going through the site now but theres a fair bit there, its 2am and ive had 2hrs sleep the night before so may not respond immediately :)

FWIW on a brief search i cant find any mention or source of the constant.

A few discussions on the recent copyrighting though:

Taken from http://www.arachnoid.com/JTides/ :

Note about UK Coverage

In April 2002, the UK Hydrographic Office ordered the removal of all UK tidal data from JTides and all other free tidal prediction programs. The fact that this is a free program, created in the public interest, has had no effect on their zeal to collect nonexistent copyright fees. The fact that this decision will decrease the safety of sailing in the UK has not swayed them in the slightest.

Ive found WXTide32 ( http://wxtide32.com/ ) which apparently is the windows port of X-tide so im going to run some predictions on that and compare with my paper booklet to see how it rates.

Edit: Interesting results. The easytide predictions and WXTide32 are out by maybe up to 10 minutes and +/- 20cm or so depth and my published tide table booklet is somewhere in the middle.

All the same ballpark figures but i dont know which to believe !
