Hi guys,
I am going to have an existing bridge and back tooth(decayed under the existing bridge) in my upper left jaw removed and replaced with a 3 crown bridge with 2 implant supports on each end. I'm hoping to have the 2 implants done in a close time frame to each other to minimize healing time.

The dental implant surgery should take place by the end of March or first week in April. When do you think I should consider getting back into diving for this summer?

This is the first time I've had dental implant surgery and just wanted to see what others have experienced with this dental procedure and scuba diving.

Thanks for any info.

Follow the professional advice from your dentist.
There is a comfort issue, and an infection issue; the latter is the important one. Even if it is comfortable in (say) two months, if the dentist says 3 months, go with three months.

I’ve been told by my dentists that a week is enough (for all the cases I had, crown, screw implants, bridges, bone implants)
But.. I’ve always been suspicious of that (given a trapped air bubble) and that ot might not apply to deco diving

I’ve read something years ago about 3 months as a safe buffer (in some paper, can’t source it now)

Trust your dentist, and take it slow after that threshold

It only depends on wether or not there is a sinus component to the implant surgery/placement. In a " normal" surgery case I would recommend 1-2 weeks to allow the tissue to heal. If the sinus is involved then I recommend 3 months to ensure the lining of the sinus can heal.

I had a similar issue back in 2021 and a bone graft was required prior to implants being done about six months later.

Infection is definitely something you want to avoid.

My dentist knew about my diving and I had a four week surface interval after the bone graft, but I think tissue was less after the implants, perhaps two weeks.

you be fine i had multiple surgeries, crown, route canal, extractions name it it s there.

Two days after the crown procedure i was in the water.

If i will had notice something going down i will had stop.

If you don't feel pain or discomfort this should not stop you at all.

Be safe.

This post misses the point(s). The BIG issue is infection; you do not feel that during a dive. Air bubbles do not express themselves on descent; it is ascent when you find about about an air bubble that cannot escape.

For what it's worth, I had an extraction and implant done in Cancun and dove a week later. I would have gone sooner but weather was bad. YMMV.
