March 1, Potato Leek Soup Day. As a Teacher my students get to hear all about St. David's Day, even though it is not part of my subject. As a child I vacationed in Newport / Cardiff a number of times. On one occasion my Great Grandfather took my to a nearby mountain and gathered up some Heather for my to take home. We carefully potted it and watered it and almost got arrested for it when we came back to the USA. My father is from good Mormon Pioneer Stock. Great Grandfather came across the in a horse drawn wagon. Lots of Pioneer Pride Filled Relatives around here. So I like to wear my Welsh T-shirts, ball caps, etc. Just to say that there is more to me than pioneer ancestors. I had my Mother purchase traditional Welsh clothing for my doughtier when she went home (twice). She wears it on St. David's Day and the Sunday before and after. We get to answer a lot of questions on those days. I'm only part Welsh, but proud of that part. and it is nice to meet you WeshMan.
Oh one more thing, my Welsh ancestors were miners too, and to celabrate the fact I purchased a mining cart from a museum (you can gues the cost of that one) to put in my front yard as the center of my landscaping. Looks pretty good.
