the salvage was done many years ago, now the entire wreck is protected. The have a museum dedicated to it in Rimouski. Kevin McMurray wrote a book about it called "Dark Decent" that is a great read. There are no skeletons, just human bones here and there. They recovered many bodies and buried some in Rimouski but in 1914 the ability to recover bodies at depth was rather limited.

The Kamloops, off Isle Royale in Lake Superior has a body in the engine room. He is in a state called "soapafied", looks like a big white blob. Kind of erie.

Thanks for posting dab. Great report, not sure I have the skills now but sounds like a great dive.

You are right Ted, I have had some nice dives in the big pond. Started early June up in Door County in Wisconsin and had a real nice weekend there. Highlights of that trip were the E.R. Williams (if that is what it is), an fairly intact schooner, and the Frank O' Connor, a 301' long wooden steamer. Great weather and great conditions. I thought I posted a report on that trip, but I am having a problem finding it. Also had a chance to visit the Prins Willen (the Willie) up by Milwaukee. Nice to dive that one later in the season when the water isn't 36°! Also went on the Wisconsin, which is in 120' of water, but I didn't get below about 115'. This time I was able to see one of the 1920's vintage cars that is in it's hold. Last weekend, I went on some "novice" dives to the Tacoma and the Material Service barge. Shallow in only about 30' feet of water. These are always good boats to dive, but the viz was only about 15 ft at best, and at the Material Service, the current was ripping! Never seen it so bad. That made it one of the more challenging dives I've had this year.

This weekend, I have a full day dive scheduled, not sure where yet. Maybe the Wells Burt or the Straits of Mackinac, the later boat purposely sunk for divers. The weekend after that, I'll be diving what I think is my favorite boat yet, the Northerner, outside of Port Washington, Wisconsin. A small two masted schooner that went down I believe in 1868. Almost perfect condition with a bowsprit in place and a figurehead. In 130' of water, it is a short dive for me, but worth it.

Get some dives in everyone!

Hey, Ted, some of the previous trip reports make my recent dives sound lame so I won't post mine. I have done zero quarry diving this season. Only local diving in the lower St. Clair River and Flats. There is some decent diving here in our own back yards. It just isn't well known. Come on over with your dive gear and beer and we'll hit the river some time it will be a hoot.

We're getting ready to go to Tobermory but I'm horrible at writing trip reports. How about I give you a call and tell you the story when I get back :D

Unfortunatly the work schedule isnt going to work out for me to go with you guys I had kind of marked it on my calander as just in case type of thing but it isnt going to be. But you guys can stop in and tell me all about it you will be driving right by my house when you go. I know Ken is going so he will write up a nice trip report.

Im booked the next couple of weekends Ray but I have been trying to get down your way all year. I think our buddy Scott has left the country I cant get ahold of him at all.

Maybe we can do some september diving down your way.

Do U guys have any opening? If I get weathered out, I gotta go somewhere and I'm really wanting to hit Toby?

I've been thinking about joining in if at all possible as well. Another group of buddies is diving Tobe Sat/Sun/Mon. I could do double duty.

Plenty of room so far, the boat has never filled up on us before so we should be able to add divers any time. Give G&S a call if you get weathered out.
