What's the purpose of the holes in jetfins?

Just a guess. Maybe the small holes are from the rubber molding process. It's possible that the heavy rubber requires holes in the mold for cooling, or to prevent deformation.
Injection molded plastic doesn't need anything like that, but maybe rubber products as thick as. A jet fin do.
Maybe the small holes are drilled after molding to align the fin in a fixture for trimming or installing the pins on the straps.
As I said, I'm just guessing.
Scubapro could market them as a "design feature" and charge more for them. ;-)
Hahaha! Someone would take the bait, I'm sure.

Do you mean the six small holes in the image below of a Scubapro Jet Fin blade?

If so, there has already been a ScubaBoard thread on the subject of this row of apertures:
http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/fins-masks-snorkels/219443-jet-fin-holes.html
The conclusion there appears to confirm what you have said, that the small holes are simply a by-product of the moulding process and serve no dynamic purpose.

I think, though, that the subject of the current thread is the row of three vents, or "jets", also visible in the image.

Well in a two part mould process they have to have holes and pins that line up so when they pour the mould it is lined up correctly... :hm: I wonder if that is where split fins come from... had a batch that didn't line up and decided to sell them......

Do you mean the small holes in the centre of the image below of a Scubapro Jet Fin blade?

Sure we can take that and run with it if you like :rofl3::rofl3::popcorn:

Strange. No matter how long I study that little red X, I see no hole in it. :idk: :D

Or in the little x's in the link.

Sorry, you've lost me. What little red x? Perhaps your browser won't display the image? Mine does... The link to the picture is:

Anyway, if that one won't display, here's a different image:

The six small holes should be visible.

Any better?
