Occasionally I see people saying that ScubaBoard is just an Internet site and as such not really very important in the real world....you know.....the one full of all the stuff we aren't allowed to talk about here! :D

So I thought I'd do a Poll. It's simple......on a scale of 1 to 10 in real world value how important do you consider this board to be for you? I suppose that is sort of like asking how valuable your hobbies and freetime are, and then SB to them! (hmmmm....have I expressed that right? :D )

Anyway...here goes.... oh...by the way.....1 is no value and 10 is lots! :D

Given the amount of time I spend online, I have to give it a 9. :D

Ninja edit: I reserve a 10 for those things I really cannot do without. Like :coke:

I'm with you El :)
.. and I have to say that I've never met a bunch of nicer people, than the ones that I have met through this board, or a more fun, skilled and consciences group of divers :D

i give it a ten as reading a magazine only gives one side to an issue. Here it is discussed by many and you can see all sides of the issues at hand and make a choice on the information provided.

I'm with El Orans on this one as well. Once you find this place, you wonder how you got by without it before. The open forums, diversity of opinions & sharing of useful information couldn't be easily replaced.

Given how much I enjoy diving and the value this sight has been to me in my growth as a diver (information, buddies, encouragement), I gave it a 9.

I give Scubaboard a 10 on how valuable it is to me. :D I have a lot of friends on this board that I wouldn't have met if not for this forum. Some friends are cyber pals and some I dive with on a regular basis and others I get to visit throughout the year. Just for that reason alone I think it is a valuable tool. You get a chance to meet people with the same interests as you and shouldn't have a hard time finding a diving buddy when needed.

Also, the board is a great resource for SCUBA discussions. You can learn a lot here that will help you when diving and there are enough veteran divers on the board that are happy to answer questions for the new divers.

I gave it a 10. Issues are always discussed, and believe me, we (SBers) seem to hit all the aspects of the given issue! So, it's educational. It's a place where we can meet buddies and put together outings. We can learn about different destinations, and places to stay, good dive ops, even the good places to eat at those destinations. We can look at cool pics taken by fellow SBer. We can find out about certain classes, and sometimes where some will be offered. This is all just "touching" on a few things... there are many more!

SB is awesome!

I noticed that several people voted "1". I wonder if this is becaue they don't like scubaboard or they think "1" is the top rating over 10? (the poll really doesn't say 1 being lowest or 10 being highest")
