So, after a dive at Blue Spring (known for the many manatee that frequent there) this past Saturday. I decide to try one of the "Barf Burgers" from their concession. As I begrudgingly chew a portion of this, one of the canteen staff approaches me and asks...

"Sir, can I ask what you think of your food?"

"Kinda tastes like manatee, to me!"

At which point the person next to me spits out his food, he is laughing so hard. AND, the canteen staff simply walks away, shaking his head.

Vegetarians never have to worry about "barf burgers" with manatee meat.

So Hal, u r going 2 the Channel Islands? 3 days sounds great!!!! I have only been to Anacapa (2x) but I love it & hope to see more soon! Please tell us all about your trip when u get back.

Sure, I'll tell y'all about the trip when I return, but I also want everyone to know that there are still a coupla spots left. Boat leaves at 4 a.m. on September 12 and returns at 5:00 on the 14th (Saturday).

It's being arranged by divers on the Rodale's D2D board at Scubadiving.com.

BTW, Anacapa's awesome. I was there last month on the Spectre, and used to get paid to dive there in the 80's during college. Best 6 bucks an hour anyone could ask for...
