What's a "shakedown dive"?

I have a lot of questions! I'm a mostly warm water diver who hasn't had a lot of experience with no-frills operations. What's the best introductory site to OC? The shoals? How much is a DM? What's your favorite site? When do you shut down operations?

Introductory site i would say depends on your skill and how comfortable you are , fenwick shoals are shallow site, but it can get surgy there, winter quarter shoals same, but i think i like it more between them two.
There is no charge for dm, if you dont feel comfortable and you want me to dive with you, i will
There's alot of sites i like, aftican queen and screw wreck are my favorites, they're both in 70-80' range to the bottom, marine electric is a nice dive, its about 125' to the sand, there's tons of nice wreck sites,
The boat is in the water year round, if there's group of people that wants to go out in January, we will go out in January lol
Where in VA are you? Diving this weekend anywhere or would like to dive?
I will be going to hydes quarry to log some time on my rebreather in westminster md, if you got no plans and have a desire feel free to join
