Our oldest child ,when she was about 25 years old, did that....Went to Roatan though...History about us needed here: we have a house there & @ the time her younger brother had been there for a year and a half. She stayed a year and a half & he was there 3 and a half years(they lived seperate the whole time she was there on Roatan)........For a time when the wife & I went to Roatan, we were truely going to visit family.....It was great( for everyone).....


BTW, the reason she went was because she got tired of corporate Dallas & traveling(mostly) Europe for her work.....She got out her house lease, sold her (new) VW bug, & bought the air ticket to Roatan all in about 4 hours one afternoon......

IMO, try it, you'll like it......
