Well i am thinking about getting a set of doubles. I am thinking 108LP or 120LP what do you guys think pro and cons. I am a big dude 6'3' 280lbs i can handle alot. I figure i put this post up because on SCUBABOARD there is nothing but experts on scuba and you guys know eveything...............Even if i thinks its alright i am sure i am wrong so any help would be great. Also moderator please do not move my thread, this is where it will get the most exposure. Thanks guys and gals and let me know what you think i should do and please No Arguing...But i am sure there will be. Thanks.

Is there a specific reason you want LP tanks? If you have access to HP tanks, I would steer towards those personally. Infact I bought a set of LP108's last year and I'm considering swapping to a set of HP tanks now.

What type of diving are you planning to do?

I my opinion, there are no perfect tanks, but some tanks are easier to work with in some circumstances. If you need more gas and can plan it, you may be better off with a set of doubles and stages. If you want to do several boat dives on one set, larger tanks may be better, but they become more cumbersome getting back on the boat. If you want to do tight spaces, smaller (HP100's) may be better to get through things. You may also end up like many with several sets that are used for different types of diving.

Give us a bit more info

HP's are your choice...if you can.. I would go with E 130's for a guy your size.adaptive to any type of diving They are a good size tank and not a big as you may think.

If I am not mistaken they are a little smaller that the 120's you mentioned..Again not sure. Anyone correct me?..Wilson!!!!!

Or if your just sport diving, HP 100'S are the way to go.

Not sure of what type of diving you do.

HP130's are the same size as the LP108's he was talking about.

E8-130's are a couple of inches shorter, 3/4 inch fatter, and about 5 lbs heavier than E7-120's ... they have roughly the same buoyancy characteristics ...

tec diving...This will be my first set and do not really wanna buy mutiple sets at this point. All around good set with lots of gas. Also considers LP because of the overfilling advantage....I know I know some may think its very dangerous but most shop up here fill tanks very well unless they are HP,also to get a good fill on a HP tanks is kinda a challenge at times.

Also, on HP130s if you fill to 3000 PSI it's still 111.42857142857143 CU Ft of gas...

Overhearing some divers yesterday talk about the advantages of LP over HP, they said that if you have a cascading system set up for filling gases, the LP tanks are easy to fill (whatever the heck that means).

P.S. Re:C.Norris,,, my Mom used to train with him in the 70's.

Well inability to get good HP fills seems like a good reason to me. I find the 108's trim really nicely for me (6 foot 3, 245) too bad you're not local, I'd be happy to let you test dive them. If it is at all possible I would suggest try diving the 108's and 120's and see what you like. I know 120's are longer which would change the trim, I don't know how much tho, so it would be worth testing them both.
