Hello,

New to the site so pardon if this is the wrong place to post. After reading all the treads here I've decided to invest in a mk17\A700 as my first reg. Now I need some advise on a octo to go with it as well as a SPG\compas combo?!
Any advice would be highly apprecaited.

I like my R395 backup. You can get the R295 but you give up the VIVA control vane to control free flows. They are both pretty standard backup regs. I know lots of people who use the R395 for their primary reg.

depends on what you want to spend and what type you want. If you diving in Cold Waters I highly recomend the G250V it's in my opinon on of scubapro's best breathing regulators and when coupled with the MK17 is the top cold water or any water regulator. If you not to set on an adjustable and dont want anything expensive go with R295 it's a good regulator nothing fancy and it works. I used mine for a year of diving and have had zero problems with it. I just recently upgraded as I wanted both my regs to be adjustable and breath great. So I got another and also picled up to Atomic M1's

you could use another a700 or a r395 or a g250v or any other reg for that matter.
the g250v is a great reg ( so I've been told ) I use a r395.

I would skip the A700 and get a MK17 with 2 G250V's. One of the best reg sets at any price on the market, and WAY less money than the a700.

Is it possible to get a mk19 here in the states? Is it worth the extra cost I assume it would incurr?
The only reason for going with the mk17 is because I would like the security of knowing that even if I never dive is realy cold water that if the oppertunity persents itself that I can... if that makes sense.

There is nothing wrong with thinking that way, the other added plus is that it's sealed so even if your in warm waters you do not need to worry about any contaminents or dirt/sand or whatever making it's way into your reg.

Great. Can one connect a SP reg to a aqualung BCS like the balance? I've had people tell me that the hose connectors are different but I want to change my hoses with miflex in any case. TX
