What motivations for diving do you have?

To the OP, There are many reasons I dive. At first it was because watching all my friends UW videos and pictures was really appealing and seemed like something I would like. I like to learn and get better at things and diving fits this quite well, I like the challenge, I like the dive trips with the guys, , meeting new people, the excitement of new places and new things, I love gear...., I like being where few have been and doing something few will do but most of all I love boring the crap out of people who could care less about diving with endless dive tales, lol.

I dive for wrecks and marine life etc etc .

Not to be too negative but whats with all these "i want to see the remaining 2/3rds of the earth" viewpoints. I'm afraid the majority of the ocean is far deeper than SCUBA can get you too.....

Mostly for the views ! Seeing a world that is more surprising and amazing that any science-fi movie could show. And also the weightless sensations. And while on holidays, doing nothing but dive, rest and eat... An uncomplicated life !

For me it is the sensation and the closeness to a beautiful side of nature not seen every day.

When our nest emptied and my wife and I started taking real vacations again, it was always to tropical locales with beautiful, turquoise-blue waters; waters clear enough to give a hint of the topography below the surface. For me, a lifetime of curiosity led to certification. For my wife, it was the challenge of getting certified and diving safely. Now we love being visitors in the Earth's aquarium, viewing all the colorful life, drama, and wonders that exist there. Mastering the equipment, honing one's skills, and managing the risks required to scuba is fulfilling too, adding to the adventure.
