The Apeks ATX100 was the best overall reg in a recent ScubaLabs test, and lots of divers love them. The ATX100 is around $400, which is First Stage and Second stage only. Add a little over $100 for the backup reg. Or you could drop back to the ATX50 which is about $330, and you should be able to stay close to your limit with the backup included. The ATX50 was also well-liked by ScubaLabs.

I have a US Divers Micra... got it 10 or 11 years ago... serviced regularly, and never had any problems with it. It's great, really small, and lightweight. Love it!

I had a long response typed out, but missed the post where you said you already bought a reg...

........I also was told it is used by Special Forces, think thats true?

I know you've already purchased, but thought I would shed some light on this.

From what I understand, DoD has had and still has long standing contracts with U.S. Divers (aka Aqualung) for all their military regulators.

Decades ago, Aqualung created the U.S. Divers division in order to quell anti-non-American sentiment over buying regulators from a French company. That was why Aqualung's U.S. versions were marketed as U.S. Divers.

It's my understanding that the current Conshelf XIV is still the regulator (open circuit) of choice for the U.S. military and many professional and military units all over the world.
