For NAUI, the MSD cert is a prerequisite for any leadership cert. Or at least passing the MSD exam with 75% is, as NAUI MSD contains all the leadership physics/physiology etc. So MSD (exam) before DM is the only option.

Description
Join the best of the best in recreational scuba diving and live the dive life as a PADI Master Scuba Diver. The Master Scuba Diver rating places you in an elite group of respected divers who have earned this rating through both significant experience and scuba training. Fewer than two percent of divers ever achieve this rating. When you flash your Master Scuba Diver card, people know that you’ve spent time underwater in a variety of environments and had your share of dive adventures.

Every diver, who is at least 12 years old, should aim for Master Scuba Diver.

The path starts with earning a PADI Open Water Divercertification, followed by PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and PADI Rescue Diver (or qualifying certifications). You also need to earn five PADI Specialty Divercertifications and have logged a minimum of 50 dives.

Check with your PADI Dive Center or Resort about starting your journey toward becoming a PADI Master Scuba Diver and continuing your diving adventures.

I Haven't take a solo course yet, but I have read the SDI course book. It pales in comparison to the NAUI MSD book.

Sorry. Was thinking of PADI not ...

God has to answer to somebody..................right?

I'm here to help....

Yeah, I had to post.
NAUI MSD: Minimum of EIGHT dives. More can be done of course. Same theory knowledge as PADI DM course.
PADI MSD: Rescue Diver & 5 specialties. Could be as many as 15 dives.

Negatives: NAUI: could only be the 8 dive minimum and 80% of the theory is stuff you probably won't use (like PADI DM
and my 2 college degrees in music).

PADI: You can take maybe up to or close to 5 specialties that don't even INCLUDE any diving, making the
MSD a joke.

Well, that keeps the thread going.....
