I bought a pair of Crocs. Hated them and donated to the Thrift Shop. Any dampness and my foot slid inside the shoe.

I have used the same pair of Teva’s for years.

I used to be bitter, judgemental, and close-minded about Crocs — that is, until I tried on my first pair last summer.

In “lounge mode”, I’m able to slip in and out of my exposure-wear with ease, and putter around the dive site without damaging my drysuit.

And when I need to get somewhere quickly, I simply engage “sport mode” for that invincible feeling.

Finally, the new Crocs even have smaller holes that even keep out pebbles.

Now I feel that I’ve reached a new level of scuba 🤿 🧘🏻‍♀️

Yeah, that's how I use them. I wouldn't wear them wet or where I need traction. I have Tevas or Chacos for that. But Crocs are great for "lounge mode," as you put it!

Thick wool socks for my ScubaPro travel sports.
Seac rock boots (cheaper neoprene version of chuck taylors) with thick wool socks for my Eddys.
Flip flops for everywhere else.

Crocs with socks

For use while diving, strictly dive boots, Scubapro or Bare these days.

For land use, I use Cheap Crocs knockoff made in Turkey I bought for around $5. The "original" Crocs I had were retired after the bottom wore out and became VERY slippery and uncomfortable. The cheap ones I have had for 3 years now.

It's funny about the Crocs. I learned to love them when they first appeared on the market, but back then, I was the "un-cool" dad/grandfather for even wearing them around the house as slippers. I'm probably still the "un-cool" dad/grandfather, but now every one of my grandkids wears them, not only around the house, but actually out in public. Sometimes us old farts are just ahead of the fashion curve!

Edit: The only thing I don't like about them is as @drrich2 stated, they get slippery when the tread wears down to a smooth surface. When that happens, I can assure you that they will turn a wet garage floor or tile surface into an ice skating rink. It is a good thing I am not balance challenged!
