I picked up a near new steel tank off of CL. The guy doesn't have a clue what the tank is other than telling me it's a 90 something and cost $350. It is exact in size and stamp is almost identical to Rad Divers wifes tank that I have here.

It is a Faber

Stamped numbers are:

m8303 02/0070/07001 02 + 01 02+
tc-3aam-184/dot-3aa 2400 ree 73

m8303 = steel faber
02/0070/07001 02 + most likely serial numbering... (did you mean to put the 01 02+ in this part also?)
01 02+ = initial hydro date Jan 2002. the + indicates it can be overfilled by 10% per regs.

tc- TC is Transport Canada.
3aam 3AAM is the Steel type 3AAM (3AAM is Chrome Molybedebum Steel (metric))
dot-3aa = DOT is US Depart of Transportation.
184 is I think 184 bar (pressure rating for Canada. metric)
2400 = service psi 2400psi for DOT/US

ree 73= the expansion units for plus rating with next hydro. (it's to tell him how much it can expand)

might be a LP95. Faber is not the best at putting volumes on tanks. If you give exact measurements of height (to top of tank, not valve) and EXACT diameter, folks here can narrow it down.

He might have paid $350 for it, but doesn't mean it's worth that. (you can buy a NEW LP95 from Worthington for $300 for example. ) The above tank needs re-hydro, new vis, and if used for partial pressure blending, will need an O2 cleaning after hydro.

Offer him $100 bucks for it since you're about to spend up to $50 on hdyro, vis and cleaning.

Thanks for the quick response Mike.

I got a deal on the tank, scuba pro reg set with gauges and weight belt with 18lbs of soft weights, all for $200. I'll service the regs and keep them for backups or put them on a pony.

I knew it would be $40-50 for hydro, vis and O2 cleaning. It has 1700psi of 36 NOx in it currently, it was filled in 03/08. I plan on taking it to the LDS and have them drain, H/V and refill with nitrox.

Tank measures 7.75" x 24".

Im not sure I would even offer that. Its a used tank. Being its steel your going to be paying a good chunk for shipping. At $100.00 plus hydro plus shipping your going to be at almost $200.00 when its all said and done.

Go to your LDS and get a brand new one from only a little bit more.

I picked it up local, so no shipping involved.

I am in the market for a couple of LP120s and another tank to match this one for my wife incase you know of any good deals.

If it is 8.02" diameter and 23.82" long, it probably weighs 37.2 LB and holds a little over 92CF at 2640 psi. The circumference of 8.02" diameter is 23.2"

So that would make it an 85CF, 92cf with the 10% overfill

02/0070/070

Correct, this number is the serial number.

02 - year made
0070 - batch
070 - number in batch.

I think you got the initial hydro (01 02+) number in twice.

Sounds like a LP 95 when filled to 2640psi.

THanks.... I new it was something like that, but couldn't remember exactly how the sequence ran out..

I was thinking the same thing.
