what is the useful life span of an al 80 tank and what does it cost to have them re-hydroed? I am considering purchasing

Hydro is about $20, useful life if not stored at max pressure for LONG periods of time and provided its not part of the DOT recall (?warning) group.. about 10,000 fills.

average is 15 to 20 years ... depending on how well it was taken care of and how many times it was filled ......

In addition to a hydro every 5 years ($8 - $50), some shops require an eddy current test, "Viz +", every year to the tune of $10 - $30.
If required, those "Viz Plus" costs can add up over the lifetime of the tank, making steel bottles a very attractive proposition.
