An advantage of an authoritative regime is that areas can be easily locked down and isolated to contain contagious diseases.

This has been done in certain areas where I live, and for sure would not be possible in North America or Europe without causing a ruckus. Unfortunately peoples' rights mean nothing when dealing with deadly diseases, but quarantine is the only way to stop the spread.

Taiwan does not have an authoritative regime and has the best response to the virus anywhere in the world. This is because since 2003 SARS epidemic all travelers are screen on arrival for high temperatures. all the cases here were imported from China, USA, HK, Europe UK and we have no lockdown. People do wear masks everywhere and they were rationed to people by the government using the national health insurance number. 3 masks cost around US 50 cents.

It seems you are not aware of the situation in different countries in Europe where the lockdowns are quite well respected (yes, you can find examples where it not the case but these are at the fringe).
"authoritative regime(s)" have not a more efficient way of finding any solution for any problem. They are just good at making you believe that.

I'm well aware of what's going on in Europe.

However in some countries where there are higher proportions of stupid people who may believe that drinking cow urine cures Covid-19 you might want to apply tighter restrictions.

What is that going to do with Singapore?

2020 coronavirus pandemic in Singapore - Wikipedia

First case was on 23rd Jan ie a day earlier than HK.
The preventive measure applied to migrant workers, if there is any, certainly failed spectacularly.

942 cases in one day which is little less than the total number of infection in HK !!!

"The biochemical estimation of cow urine has shown that it contains
sodium, nitrogen, sulphur, Vitamin A, B, C, D, E, minerals,
manganese, iron, silicon, chlorine, magnesium, citric, succinic,
calcium salts, phosphate, lactose, carbolic acid, enzymes, creatinine
and hormones [3]. Any deficiency or excess of these substances
inside the body causes disorders. Cow urine contains all of these
substances with having a balanced proximate composition.
Therefore, consumption of cow urine restores the balance of these
substances and thus helps in curing from incurable diseases.
Experimentally it has been concluded that fractions of cow urine
obtained by solvent extraction possess antimicrobial activity due
to presence of aforesaid components those are solely
responsible for the action [4]. It has again been observed that
cow urine enhances the phagocytic activity of macrophages and
thus helpful against bacterial infections. It also facilitates the
synthesis of interleukin-1 and interleukin-2 [5, 6], augments B-
and T-lymphocyte blastoge, and IgA, IgM and IgG antibody
titers
...
With an approximate shelf life
of around 5 years , this can prove to be the most effective natural
antiseptic and disinfectant, when compared to the synthetic
chemicals those are currently available to the consumers [7].
Thus, it strengthens the fact that cow’s urine is not a toxic
effluent as 95% of its content bei ng water, 2.5% urea and the
remaining 2.5%, a mixture of minerals, salts, hormones and
enzymes

Do you take vitamins and supplements to boost your general immunity? Especially in times like these?

Having vitamins in the urine doesn’t guarantee to “boost” your immune system, unless you are vitamin deficient and certainly wouldn’t be helpful with COVID-19. I think what prior post implied was that some people who intake false cures maybe less educated but more importantly maybe under impression that they are protected somehow and are less apt to self quarantine or follow social distancing.

What is that going to do with Singapore?

Let's just say there is a proportion of less educated people in every country, and these are the ones who don't understand the necessity to use social distancing, wear masks etc., in order to better manage this pandemic.

There are a lot of less educated people in HK as well but you will be hard pushed to find many of us NOT wearing one!
Wearing mask was NOT encouraged or compulsory until couple of days ago in Singapore which I found it difficult to accept. They had gone through SARS in 2003 and should aware where is the first line of defense lies.

I honestly believe Sing Gov had failed its duty miserably.
Dormitory = cruise ship = dead trap

The most important question is how they are going to cope with the large number of patients.

I think we are seeing 2nd wave of dynamic situation.
