What happens to film

it leaves a salt residue that look like water spots on the film. But regular(fresh) water also leaves water spots on the it also causes the film to stick together in the roll (same as fresh water though).

Overall, water doesn't do film any good unless you get it out of the roll and dry it off (which requires a dark room)
