Do you expect a dive op to provide a computer for you? I would not expect that and neither would I want it. I have seen people diving with borrowed computers who had no clue to what the computers were telling them. The worst case was a couple who both blew a mandatory safety stop because they were in deco and didn't know it; when we were all back on the boat the guy noticed I had a similar computer and asked me why the display was flashing. His only concern was that the computers they had borrowed would not work for their afternoon dives. I hope they survived the day.

There is very little diving done on the east side of the island and there are no hotels over there besides maybe the very small Lantana next to Coconuts, which may or may not still be a going concern, and all the restaurants over there close well before dark. There is no grid electricity over there; a few places sometimes have solar modules but most power their sound systems with car batteries that they haul back and forth every day. We don't call it "the wild side" of Cozumel for nothing.
my wife’s computer died on dive 2 of
The first day. It was recently serviced with a fresh battery and it looks like the o-ring on the battery compartment gave out. It was a 15+ year old suunto mosquito. I contacted the dive shop and asked them to provide a rental computer for our next dive that was booked a few days later. Pretty standard…. Please reread my post.

That is a lot for 2 days even with full rental gear & nitrox. Close to $200 more than what it should be.
$440 for the dives plus $88 total
For 4 tanks of nitrox, $100 for rental gear (I had my own computer/mask/regulator), $85 in tax and $48 to marine park fees. Does anyone know the actual marine park fee breakdown? $24 a person a day seems high?

Consider a spare. Maybe more than one. Especially when you're traveling with more than one diver.

It's not even like a basic used computer is going to cost all that much, especially when compared to the high costs of diving and the safety aspects involved.

Like everywhere else, Cozumel prices are climbing. On a recent trip we went downtown for our usual cheap t-shirt shopping expedition. Could not find any and a snack of guacamole, a beer and one soda was 20 dollars. I almost fell to the pavement.

Same for an O2 analyzer. I always take one. bought a second off of FB listing for cheap (like $40) Analox O2EII Pro). O2 cell is dead. Will get from DGX (their generic sensor) before next season's trip. No I won't take 2 of those, but I pretty much take two of everything else. Except for only one pony bottle.

Good reason to switch to water. Soda is empty calories, and beer isn't any better although it can give you a buzz.
Mexican water ...

On trips to um, less developed, locales, I typically don't drink the water. Beer or soda is fine. Bottled water if I am the one to open it (preferably fizzy water). I don't trust a bottle brought to the table open. No ice in anything.

Select resorts like AKR I will make an exception as all of thiers runs through an onsite UV unit. and the big bottles at CCV. Bonaire is a city in Holland so I kinda buy off on their purification (RO seawater).
