it's simply described as a Faber 85 Tank with Sherwood Valves and Stainless Steel Bands, with these lettering on the tank: Faber N8303 85+ M8303. i'm guessing it's a LP85? i couldn't find it on the Huron list.

last hydro and vip were both done in 1998. seems like a huge gamble, but would you take the risk for $125?

I wouldn't use the manifold but for $125... sure, I'd take a chance.

on huron look at oms 85
looking at the picture. if there is no distortion they look very wide for thier heigth
they look like 8" tanks which would make them non lp85s. the 85+ is confusing to me also. i looked at my lp85s and they are different.
next the valves and manifold are unusuall. have not seen these for years or at least infrequently . does it have a dot stamp or could these be foreign tanks
take the diamteter adn heigth measurements and compare to huron aat least you will knowif they ar a 8" tank or not
circumference / pi should be close enough
all my faber tanks have serial #s on them manufacture date is i think minth year.
this is going on a limb but if you are looking at the 85+ as a size then 85 would be at 2400 psi and the plus would make it 10% more. And a 95 is a 95 not 93
going the otherway a 85 with the plus would be a 77 without it. and that doesnt work either.

post the entire tank stampings as they appear if you would.

this is what is on my faber 95

The 85+ is probably born date plus the original plus rating as Faber never put the capacity on their cylinders except for the ones they made for OMS. They look like 95s to me (get measurements to know for sure). I'd ask to remove the valves and stick a light in there. If it looks clean buy them. You will probably spend another $100 getting them into hydro/VIP/O2.

As for the manifold, buy a modern one and sell that one - the old Sherwood manifold is great for vintage divers with a double hose as you can attach a single reg for a back up. I might say the same for the bands. They look like old 2" bands. Get modern one the are 2.5" which you will probably need anyways if you use a modern manifold as the spacing is slightly wider.

Here are additional markings:
Scuba Pro
M8306 Faber Italy 5 A 85+
Dot 3AA 2400-85

Also, he says:
The tanks have a circumference of a 25.5. This calculates to a diameter of 8.12 inches

that should clear that up. you have good tanks and as long as they have the dot stamp i would buy them.
