So, in my dive courses I was told that TC stands for Transport Canada.

I rent tanks from a dive shop in USA, and they say TC stands for Transport Commission. A tank from Canada would be stamped CTC for Canadian Transport Commission (Which does not exist.).

Did the dive shop not know the truth?

CTC does not stand for anything Canadian. There is no government agency that it's initials are CTC.

Are you a troll or just being dense?

Why not just do an internet search? In less than 2 minutes I found out that TC stands for Transport Canada and CTC stands for Canadian Transport Commission. Check out this site: FAQ on Cylinders - Transport Canada Do a text search for CTC on this page and let us know the results.

I would assume the Canadian Transport Commission was the name used by the agency before Transport Canada.

I am neither.

I was just wondering why they called it Transport Commission, and did not know it was not a USA government organization.

It would be the same as if someone thought the P in PADI stood for Personal.
