what do you think of Dive Rite TransPac Harness

What does the Transpac provide for singles that a simple Hog rig doesn't?

More than a dozen extra buckles, clips, straps, and some padding.

I throw the BS flag on that one. While any doubles wing should not be used for singles, I have used the rec wing on many dives using double X8-130's with 3 deco bottles. Plenty of lift. This was in FL, were we are wearing 3 mm suits.

In this video, you can see myself and another diver diving double 119's with 2 stage bottles and 3mm suits. Obviously it worked well....

Well, all I can tell you is that in a drysuit with double steel 119s, a can light, a couple of reels, a 40cf bottle, and (ideally) a bag with some goodies in it I didn't feel like the Rec Wing was enough. Especially if maybe at the surface in rough water.

Required wing capacity is a function of the buoyancy of the diver's exposure suit, and the volume of the diver's back gas.

Statements like "XX wing is too small for YY tanks", or "XX wing is great for YY tanks" are at best incomplete, and at worst dangerously misleading.

Heavier, more buoyant exposure suits require higher capacity wings. Higher volume tanks require higher capacity wings.

I dive the Transpac, and a Transplate with the rec wing. I have both just because! The transplate has slots so you can dive a single on it, You would just need to get tank straps. I do like to dive the plate with my doubles, rigged with one continuos piece of webbing. I seldom dive the transpac, but I do like the ajustability that it offers.(with singles)
No two divers are alike! So if you can try before you buy.....

and a back plate system is there a chance of ripping a dry suit compaired to other type BC?

Never heard of anyone ripping a drysuit with a backplate.

The transpack is a soft pack harness, there is no hard (metal or plastic) BP.
If you would like a transpack style harness on a metal or plastic BP get a transplate harness.
Never seen a BP rip a suit. It would need a very pore finish to the edges to do so.

Spent the morning climbing a bluff with my I'm stupid. Compared to other BC's she gets top marks. Great balance of comfort, stability, and flexibility IMO. I especially love traveling with it.

That said, there is no single answer for all divers. Before you commit, please please please demo a Hog rig from DSS. Amazing company, amazing products, reasonable prices. Countless small touches to the hog concept that really pay off. There is a lot to be said for keepin' it simple.

All the negative/middle of the road comments made me think about my decision and I ended up selling the wing and getting an Oxycheq single-tank wing.

Having observed a number of divers in the water since then with the Rec Wing I can certainly confirm that these wings do taco with single AND double tanks. Furthermore, this wing is absolutely huge for single tank use. When you hold the Oxycheq Mach V and the Rec Wing side by side knowing the Mach V provides more than enough lift you realise that the Rec Wing is just too freakin' huge for single tank diving.
