Do you still dive in your backup drysuit from time to time or simply store it until the moment you need to use it?
Do you still service your backup drysuit annually or only service it when you know your primary is not going to be available?

I tend to dive both of my suits. One of them is more suited to travel (lighter, dries faster, etc) so I take it on international trips. The other is heavier, more durable, and warmer so I tend to take it to colder locations and/or dive it here at home. I don't service either them on a regular basis - only as needed.

What do you use for both types please? (Brand, model, options :) )

I find my old gear tends to collect in the closet and I keep it for a spare, that I never use.
Every once in a while I go through and find a bunch of spares that I really need to unload.

I try do a sort of primary/primary situation with a couple of my drysuits instead of primary/backup. This spreads the wear and tear out on both suits and allows me to check on the health of the seals. I do have other "backup" suits I can also use but they are less reliable.

I've seen a lot of people go to use their backup suits that have sat for a year only to find that their seals have completely rotted or a mouse chewed threw the crotch (true story) so I try to keep at least two good working suits at all times.

That's active/active fail-over mode.

Dive Rite 901 and a SF Tech TNT

Both have a pee valve and Rolock dry-gloves. The SF Tech suit has a neoprene neck seal and the Dive Rite has a silicone neck seal (so I can replace if needed while traveling). The SF Tech is a custom fit suit (they all are) and the Dive Rite is off-the-shelf sizing.

My backup is new, but I just used it for a couple of weeks while I was getting a new zipper in my preferred suit. (I like the boots in my main better).

They're pretty much identical though.

My third suit is unused.

My forth suit is toast, but I'm having separation anxiety. We shared many wonderful times.

My fifth one is around here somewhere. I think it's feeding a family of mice.

Also, service? What service? If it ain't wet, it's good, if it is, I take it in.
