I'm trying my drysuit tomorrow for the first time in the water. I do not plan to use the p-valve.

I put it on tonight, and inflated it. I seem to lose air through the p-valve. If I squat down I hear the air escaping through it.

Is this ok? Would I need to block the tubing somehow if I am not using it?

thanks

I don't know what kind of p-valve you have, but it's a good idea to close it when it is not hooked up. Although they are not supposed to do it, all of mine have leaked back along the tubing when the external orifice is open and the valve is not connected.

It is natural for you to lose air out of the suit through the p-valve, if the pressure in the suit exceeds the pressure around it. It's not an issue with normal suit use and a horizontal diver orientation.
