Find another shop because PADI is the way the world learns to dive.

I haven't came across any PADI's shops refusing my IANTD Tec Nitrox card.
Perhaps they want to learn from others.

Thanks all, I have since e-mailed the dive shop at the resort and found they are PADI certified. I was just curious as to if there are any rules regarding types of certification and if PADI is accepted at all dive shops.

Really? - I trained with CMAS, my dive buddy trained with NAUI, and my dive club with about 40 people in training at the moment is BSAC. Around where I am there are four different BSAC clubs within a 15 mile radius, one CMAS/SSI but only two PADI ones. I've not heard of any of the divers having problems diving with a PADI centre or vica versa.

But for the local regular divers i.e. people diving most weeks the majority of people around here are not PADI but are BSAC.

PADI is still the King and certifies more divers than
any other agency in the world.

PADI, often imitated but never duplicated.

At the risk of poking a stick in the hornets nest I could say Ford sell more Cars than Rolls Royce or Aston Martin, but it doesn't makes Fords better cars than Rolls' or Astons'. :D

But I really don't care who provides my training so long as it is good quality, safe, gives me the knowledge I want and/or need and is well delivered. I couldn't care less whose company logo is above the door.

So that explains what's wrong with 99% of the divers out there.
