Have NWA Package Vacation booked Mar 4-11 staying at Casa Del Mar. But the Northwest Pilots may strike on the first. Delta has flights from Detroit through Atlanta to Coz for a decent price today. But I wonder how to handle the hotel reservation.

Not ready to pull the trigger, but thinking ahead.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem before?
What did you do?
What would you do differently?

Thanks,

Since NWA is a partner with us, check with Continental to see if we will be accepting their tickets for travel.
Yep, and Delta partners with NWAir also.

Here again is an example of why I always spend the very little extra to buy Trip Insurance for any international trips as well as any packages that cannot be canceled without severe penalty.

But if NWA sold you the package, aren't they responsible for getting you there....?

Good luck! :pilot:

I think your hotel will be fine. There should not be a problem with it being cancelled due to an airline strike. It is paid for & it is yours. The fact that it was sold to you as a package will not matter. That is done all the time & the reservation desk, at the hotel, does not know if you are Southwest Vacations, Apple Vacations, ATA Vacations etc...That hotel reservation has nothing to do with NWA strike. The hotel does not know how you got there & does not care.

BigJetDriver had an excellent point, do check with their partners & see if NWA tickets will be honored.

Eventually, but not necessarily within the original time frame. Depends on if the flights originally scheduled are still flying, availability of other flights, if the partners will accept the endorsed tickets, etc.

I would recommend if you're really nervous about it, get a PAPER ticket now. Yes, you'll have to pay more for it, but it'll make the process of endorsing it over to another carrier much easier. If the pilots go out and NWA goes out of business, it's a nightmare getting etickets transferred.

As an aside, under federal law, if NWA does close their doors, other carriers are required to accept your tickets for a $50/person/OW fee on a *space available* basis. Make a list now of alternative routings on different airlines which would get you there. Check the seat availability where you can (usually you can see the seats on Orbitz). Keep it updated. The second you hear that something's happened, call NWA and tell them what you want to be moved to. By having that information prepared, you'll be ahead of the game and ahead in line to get reassigned. The reservationist will love you and you're much more likely to get what you want.

They wont strike I bet $100 the NW Pilot's Union and the ALPA will roll over again just like Delta Union will do as well. They have too much to lose (ie Senority Scope and more) Meanwhile the President of the ALPA is making $450k a year an has not taken a pay cut.

That's my $.02 :-)

Well, we haven't changed a thing. Leaving tomorrow via NWA.
Have a great trip, and we'll try to keep them flying for your return. :D

Who wants to fly home? :D
I do hope he took Trip Ins - so many don't. :11:
