What Color Is Your Stuff?

I recently went with a red/black drysuit, because my last one was blue/black. All black is too dull, even for me. For wetsuit diving (in a standard black wetsuit) I use the orange Deep6 fins and like the look, but unfortunately I need the weight of Jet Fins for drysuit diving, and I don't have the enthusiasm to hunt for the rarer colors.

I use the gosports for dry and is why I have them in two colors. I hated light weight fins for dry....... ...at first.

It’s nice to pick an accent color and mostly stick to it. Fins, straps, and a few other things are easy to customize if you’re buying them new anyway. I have white and it shows up fairly well.

White glows bright even in the darkest of our waters.

Color isn’t really about what you see at depth, but it has a lot to do what happens on the surface. Bright colored gear has better visibility on the surface. Being visible to boats for pick-up (or being run-down) is an advantage

Another advantage of color, is to quickly distinguish and identify what is your gear, versus what belongs to another diver. That's useful for avoiding mix-ups, avoiding theft, more quickly finding your gear, etc. I accidentally grabbed my dive-buddy's mask once, so it's not just other people grabbing my gear, hah!

I also frequently use a "paint-marker" to mark items like scuba-tanks. The paint sometimes rubs off of very smooth surfaces after a number of months, but I just re-apply it if it does. Usually, I just put a 1-2 large letters.

I also ordered some stickers from Diving Labels: A “must have” for divers from amateur to professional. although I haven't put them to use yet, so cannot comment yet on the quality. Price is good.

Was that one of the ones with the C2O cartridge that you use to get to the surface fast in emergencies? No, probably not since it has an inflator hose.

My first BC was a Scubapro Stab Jacket, the next model after the one you show. (Mine had the "taco pockets" instead of the detachable pockets you show.) It was just as orange as yours, though! I would still have it, but I needed to get a larger size (ca. 1993) when I purchased a drysuit. I was hoping to purchase another orange one, but SP was no longer offering that color in the new model (Finseal Classic).

This link (Jacket vs back inflate for new diver?) shows a pic of my eldest daughter trying on her mom's a couple of months ago. Daughter used *mine* on her open water checkout and her trip to Roatan, both this summer.
