I (a recreational diver) use a Genesis Atlas Reg and a Mares Airtrim Dragonfly BC.

Reg Pros: Seems to work really well - have never had a problem with it. Bubbles are not as annoying as with other regs I have used, as the exhaust seems to direct them away from my eyes pretty well.

Reg Cons: When it's been cold (40 degrees), I notice that I can hear a "ring" in the operation of the regulator when it opens and closes - not sure if that's a problem, or just a normal symptom.

BC Pros: Easy to use and streamline, comfortable, very easy to trim

BC Cons: MRS pockets can be a pain to get inserted correctly. Airtrim exhaust not all that great - I often use the dump valves instead. If my instuctor had taught me better about the dump valves, I would have looked for a non-Airtrim BC with multiple dump valves instead.

Overall: Happy with both. Airtrim is neat, but uneccessary - find a BC with multiple dump valves (one at the shoulder area, one near the bottom) and you'll be just fine.

BC is a jetharness plate and dive rite travel wing. Regs are SP MK15/G250/balanced adjustable. The BA 2nd stage is at least 20 years old and breathes great. When you get a little closer to buying, spend some time on the individual forums for the gear you're looking for, and you'll have enough reading so that you might never have time to dive!

ScubaPro Knighthawk w/Air 2 - Yes, I like the Air2. Love the BC, comfortable and compact. Wish it had more Rings on it. I might try the Ranger one day just to check it out and see one day but for now it serves the purpose I need. Very well constructed compared to many others.

Aqualung Legend with the gold cover, EN250 1st. Hate the gold cover and the bling associated with it! Love, and I mean love, the regulator. Easy pull and dry and works as well deep as it does shallow. I should for what I paid for it. Also have the Uuwatec AirZ nitrox hoseless computer which I also very much like but the strap is crap when you wear it on the wrist. I need a new one.

My backup is a Apex TX100 with EN250 1st and Aqualung octo and Suunto Cobra computer. I will let you know after I dive it in a couple weeks.....

BC - Scubapro Classic w/ Air 2
Reg - Mares Akros

I love both of them, but I wish the classic had a little more room on the vest to put your arms through. Sometimes, the nonadjustable hole is challenging.

My old set up was a Tusa Pro cubic with a Sherwood Maximus . Loved it , worked great but peer pressure and my wanting to get into more technical diving i now have a SS backplate and Agir 36 pound singles wing. I changed out to Dive Rite regs and will never look back. Then in the mail is a Salvo First stage and a 38 pound Agir doubles wing .

Cressi S111R
Apeks ATX 50
Apeks Egress Octo

No regrets used the octo to see how it worked and it breathes fine at depth

DSS Single Tank rig
pros - It's ideal for me in every way I can think of.
cons - ...

Aqualung Titan
pros - A workhorse. Very simple. You can open it up without tools. Any dive shop on the face of the Earth can service it.
cons - ...

still using my old reliable reg of scubapro mk200 with g200 regs. will be thinking of upgrading soon.

bc is a no frills aquatec atlas. a simple yet inexpensive weight integrated bcd.

BC: Cressi Sub S-114
Regs: Mares Nikos R2

I love my BC. Regs are fine for my current needs, but I do daydream of some fool dropping a tank on the plastic 2nd stage and smashing it to pieces, thus scoring a new reg set :D

BC: Mares Morphos Pro
Reg: Mares V-16 Proton Metal, Mares Proton Octo
