I (a recreational diver) use a Genesis Atlas Reg and a Mares Airtrim Dragonfly BC.
Reg Pros: Seems to work really well - have never had a problem with it. Bubbles are not as annoying as with other regs I have used, as the exhaust seems to direct them away from my eyes pretty well.
Reg Cons: When it's been cold (40 degrees), I notice that I can hear a "ring" in the operation of the regulator when it opens and closes - not sure if that's a problem, or just a normal symptom.
BC Pros: Easy to use and streamline, comfortable, very easy to trim
BC Cons: MRS pockets can be a pain to get inserted correctly. Airtrim exhaust not all that great - I often use the dump valves instead. If my instuctor had taught me better about the dump valves, I would have looked for a non-Airtrim BC with multiple dump valves instead.
Overall: Happy with both. Airtrim is neat, but uneccessary - find a BC with multiple dump valves (one at the shoulder area, one near the bottom) and you'll be just fine.
