I don't think the poor guy's an IDIOT; just someone who has gotten away with dangling for a long time. He had an expensive lesson that day. We must not laugh lest the Karma curse us with knocking over our tanks with the reg on & busting those metal things that touch the first stage (which I have done.)

I really didn't laugh at what happen to the guy, but some of the replies ..... I have trears in my eyes from laughing so much. That is sad and a costly mistake. Makes me even more happy with my "air2" setup from Scubapro.

I would have liked to seen him going around in circles...Uncle Pug

:whoa: :giggle: :hehe: Rich

Did he zip around in jet propelled circles???
The visual is hysterical. From a cartoon or something: skipping across the surface.

“Kapow!” followed by a 3200 psi “Whoosh.” Of course the reg fell in the water instead of the boat. That little rubber snorkel keeper on his D-ring might have come in handy.

From a low pressure hose (or 1st stage LP port) the whoosh would have been the Intermediate Pressure, 125 to 150 psi maybe? The noise probably hurt his ear tho...

...but I suspect the whoosh from a wide open LP port would be louder and more forcefull than the whoosh from the HP port with that little bitty hole.

Anybody know?

Anybody gotta hammer and want to find out?

I'll bring the hammer, Pug. But we need someone else to volunteer the gear.

Oh yeah, and to do the actual SMACK'.

But I'll watch (from a safe distance).

So, would the itty bitty hole get bigger with 80ft3 all trying to get out at once?

Nope... the orifice drilled into the 1st stage body at the back of the HP port is intentionally small to limit flow.

Unless of course your 1st stage is made of cottage cheese instead of brass... then... yeah, sure... it would get a lot bigger...
